STANDARD OUTFITTING AND ADDITIONAL OPTIONS

Every Kayak produced at Sterling Kayaks is made with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship. We pride ourselves on making the best Sea Kayak on the market and go to great lengths to ensure each kayak we make hits our same high standards. Anything that we do not build in-house has gone through rigorous testing to ensure all parts of our kayaks will hold up to whatever you put it through. The standard features on a Sterling Kayak are:

Redfish Kayak Seats by Joe Greenley.
Gray closed cell mini foam, they do not absorb water.
Warm and comfortable for the all day paddle or short trips.

Each seat comes with a foam wedge that fits under the front of the seat to raise the seat incrementally to get the perfect fit.

The only commercial builder to exclusively offer this Skeg (we call it Skeel) designed with Reg Lake. Skeel (aft central retractable skeg with kink free cable design).

Skeel Controller and Skeelbox are built in rather than added on later making them lighter, stronger and trouble free.

Skeg boxes are fiberglass not plastic – higher quality and longevity.

No kinked cable in the skeg housing

Recessed Skeel controller at left hip out of the way yet easy to fine tune in an instant.

Heavy duty fittings made from quality material recessed into the deck –not snagging clothing while making a re-entry Made in the USA deck fittings

Recessed Deck Fittings (nothing to snag your gear or clothing) Plus a bungie arrangement under the deck to hold maps, pumps etc.

Inside mounted rails and Sea-Lect Design foot pedals attached with stud mounts – no through holes to leak water.

Sea-Lect Design Hatch Lids are tethered to underside of deck

Paddle float re-entry rescue mounts

Sliding line tensioner to hold your spare paddle tight to the deck on both front and rear.

Perimeter Ropes to assist holding on to the kayak if you land in the water – portions of the rope are covered in a black vinyl tubing so you won’t cut your hands holding onto your boat in big currents or the surf.

The use of the high performance Sea-Lect Design hatches and lids seal well and come on and off easily.

Depending on the lay-up you choose, bulkheads are made from either Carbon or Fiberglass, not from plastic or foam as many manufacturers provide. They have a proprietary build design and install design. This allows the bulkheads to flex with hull impacts without creating breakage or cracking of hull or the deck.

Our kayaks come standard with a bulkhead behind the seat that leaves more room for water bags or other gear.

All our models now come standard with a multi-function point behind the coaming for lifting, securing or towing.

Grab Handles/Carry Handles front and rear.
